On the stump for Obama

Jennifer: "I am beginning to believe that we can change the world. Within the despair, within the not knowing, within the anxiety, within the anger there is always the possibility for change. There is the seed of hope. And I'm not talking about some pie-in-the-sky kind of hope; I'm talking about the kind of hope that requires each and every one of us to stand up and be counted. I'm talking about the kind of hope that requires each and every one of us to give the very best of ourselves. Not just only for our own benefit, but for the benefit of everyone, for the benefit of the collective.
I -- like so many people I know -- am so fucking tired of corporate greed. I am so -- I'm just going to say it -- fucking tired of senseless wars. I am tired of the dereliction of our educational system. I am tired of the divisive politics of fear. I am tired of the earth being pillaged. I am tired of it and I want it to change now. Not four years from now because we don't have the time; it has to change now. And I believe that in my lifetime, we can see a cultural transformation. But that means each and every one of us has a role to play in making it happen.
When we started doing The L Word, I realized that storytelling -- especially telling the stories of the LGBT community -- was a radical and transformative act. And that if history is written by the victors, then we were making ourselves victorious by telling our stories.
On November 4th, this coming Tuesday, we have the opportunity to write our own history.
So here's what you need to do ... First of all, you need to vote. Second, you need to help get out the vote and volunteer shifts that you all have committed to performing by being here tonight. And third, you need to tell everyone you know to vote and make a personal commitment to get them out to the polls on Tuesday.
Please: Vote for Hope; Vote for Change; Vote for Barack Obama. "
